RecallAlert ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Automatically Collected Information

• Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (only collected if you opt into push notifications)
• Usage Data: App features used, crash reports, performance metrics

User-Selected Information

• State Selection: If you choose to enable state-level filtering, you manually select your state(s) of interest. We do not automatically collect or track your location.

Information You Provide

• Scan History: Photos and data from product scans you perform
• Saved Recalls: Recalls you bookmark or save for later reference
• Notification Preferences: Categories and types of recalls you want to be notified about
• Feedback: Any feedback or support requests you submit

How We Use Your Information

• Provide and improve our recall checking and notification services
• Personalize your experience based on your preferences

• We use Supabase for backend services with SOC 2 compliance

Children's Privacy

Our app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover we have collected such information, we will delete it immediately.

Camera and Photo Access

RecallAlert requests camera and photo library access to:

• Scan product images for recall checking
• Allow you to select photos from your library for analysis

These permissions are only used for product scanning features. When you scan a product image, the image is sent to OpenAI's API for object identification to help determine what product you're scanning. Images are not stored on our servers after processing is complete.

Push Notifications

We send push notifications about product recalls only with your explicit consent. You can:

• Choose notification preferences in the app settings
• Disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings
• Select specific categories of recalls to be notified about

Third-Party Services

Our app integrates with the following third-party services:

• Supabase: Database and backend services
• Apple App Store: In-app purchases and subscriptions
• Apple Push Notification Service: Push notifications (only if you opt in)
• OpenAI API: Product image identification during scanning (images are processed but not stored by us)

International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.

Data Retention

• Scan history: Retained on your device only until you delete it
• Saved recalls: Retained on your device only until you remove them
• Usage analytics: Aggregated and anonymized after 12 months
• Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy in the app
• Updating the "Last Updated" date
• Sending a notification for material changes
